What is peat?
Peat is a kind of organic soil that is found extensively in many parts of the world. Peat originates in accumulated rotting vegetation in anaerobic conditions in bogs, lakebeds, and other damp areas.
Most peat soil suitable for seedlings is found in Russia, the Baltic states, Finland, and Northwest Europe.
Peat is used as a bed for growing crops and seedlings.
